.uif files are compressed and therefore smaller and faster to download, but usually not very easy to handle once you've got the file.

I used magicISO (which is freeware) to convert the .uif file into an .iso file, and then burned the .iso with Nero to a DVD.

Vista will not install to a completely new hard drive (which I was working with) without a little bit of help, so I created a winpe disk to boot with, then put in the Vista DVD. (winpe is also freeware, just a little complicated)

Once the disk was in, Vista installed itself with no hassle, and I'm using it right now and it's working great.

I do believe that this is a Dell OEM edition of Vista Ultimate, because the Dell logo is seen in several places in Windows. On the other hand, I'm using actual Dell hardware, so that could be causing the logos as well. I'm not too sure about that, but in any case it's not effecting Windows.

With this download, there are no cracks/keygens/activations needed, all of that is done automatically for you. I've had no problems downloading windows updates or programs from microsoft.
